Counselling in Kingsteignton, near Newton Abbot, Devon
I have been practicing as a counsellor since 2001, after I qualified with a Diploma in Counselling in Exeter. I am an accreditted member of the BACP. My training is Person Centred, which means I use a non-directive approach to therapy. I have recently enhanced my training with an integrative diploma in counselling children and adults ( 2006 ) to broaden my theoretical base. This allows me to bring more creative activities with an analytical perspective to my work with both adults and children. I have recently undergone further training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy ( CBT ), 2008 - 30 hour course, and now regularly incorporate CBT into my work.
The Devon practice is within easy reach of Newton Abbot, Torquay and Kingsteignton. I also practise at
The Arcturus Clinic in Totnes.
I am experienced working with issues such as depression, anger, anxiety, loss, sexuality, anger, suicidal thoughts, self-harm and eating disorders.
While I work with a general practice, I also specialise in working with young people ( 5 - 18 year olds). I have specific training in this area and am currently employed by the Young Devon ( formerly known as Devon Youth Association ) working on site at Exmouth Community College as a student counsellor, and at Clyst Vale Community College as a student counsellor.
I have lectured at South Devon College, delivering Counselling skills training, and do other training on request, such as working with anger.
